Visit the 28th Annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show This October

Fall in Pawleys Island and the Litchfield Beach area is a great time to experience a wide variety of festivals and events. From visiting the majestic gardens at Brookgreen to exploring the trails at Huntington Beach State Park to biking along the inlets, the beauty and excitement of Autumn is in full-display this time of year. For another unique Hammock Coast experience during your Litchfield Beach vacation, visit the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show this October.

Now in its 28th year, the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show returns on October 21 and 22, 2017 with free admission for all! Always held on the third weekend of October, the Wooden Boat Show displays one of the South's best wooden boat exhibits, featuring over 140 classic wooden boats on both land and water. Visitors can also watch or participate in children's model boatbuilding, maritime arts and crafts, delicious food offerings and entertaining live music. You can also try your hand at knot-tying with Dan "the Knot Man" as you participate in the "Six Knot Challenge."

Be sure to stop by the event on Saturday, October 21 when teams of two face off in the Wooden Boat Challenge, which features teams racing to build a rowing skiff within a four-hour time limit! After the teams have constructed their skiffs, they must test out their boats for seaworthiness, as they take on a rowing relay on the Sampit River.

Bring the entire family out to the Wooden Boat Show on Sunday, October 22, to experience the Cardboard Boat Regatta, as well as the Opti Pram Regatta.

Throughout the weekend, check out the Sponsor Hospitality Tent between 11 am and 6 pm for refreshments and big screen TVs, and don't miss the Beer Garden and Food Court, offering up tasty items like Cajun Gumbo, Shrimp Creole, Chicken Pilau, Hot Dogs, and BBQ Sandwiches.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the two stages of music, featuring live entertainment from noon until 4 pm each day. Entertainers include The Blue Plantation Band and The V-Tones. Stay around until 7pm on Sunday for the Awards Banquet to celebrate boat exhibitors, boatbuilding competitors, sponsors, and guests. Prizes will be awarded to winners in the exhibit categories and boatbuilding winners.
