Watch the Season Come to Life at Brookgreen Gardens Nights of a Thousand Candles
Courtney Martin | 18 Oct 2017
For decades, Brookgreen Gardens has dazzled guests with their picturesque landscapes, timeless statues and sculptures, and animal exhibits, and every Winter, the Gardens are transformed into a seemingly living, breathing display of lights, candles, and holiday cheer for the unmissable Nights of a Thousand Candles.
In 2017, Nights of a Thousand Candles takes place on select nights in November and December. Visitors can expect to enjoy live music throughout the event from both scheduled performers and strolling musicians. Refreshments will be available for purchase and catered by Inlet Affairs of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Dine on Low Country Shrimp & Grits, Snow Crab Legs, Seafood Platters, and much more when you spend the evening under the lights at Brookgreen Gardens.
Perfect for a romantic evening with the one you love, guests will encounter over 5,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights positioned throughout the venue. An 85-ft-tall fir tree will also be decorated with 100,000 lights and lit in ceremonial fashion each night at 5:45pm.
The first weekend of the event is November 30-December 2, and will feature performances from Roger Day, Prettier than Matt, Vocal Edition, and the Paul Grimshaw Band. The second weekend takes place from December 7-9 and includes entertainment from the Long Bay Youth Symphony, TruSol, Mike Frost Band, and Ron & Natalie Daise. The final weekend experience will occur from December 14-17, with performances by the Thistledown Tinkers, Bill Oberst, and previous weekend's performers. Each night of the event will feature roving bagpipe performances by Peggy and Mark Gaudreau. This highly-anticipated event requires advanced tickets, and the number of tickets sold for each night will be limited. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $12 for children, so reserve your night at this spectacular holiday event while there is still availability!
